As coach of a JO13 team I worked out every week who would sit on the bench and when. It took time, and on the sideline it still went wrong. So I let the computer do the maths.
What began as an Excel sheet became a web app that runs on any phone. The planner never puts a player in a position he can't play, keeps time on the bench as short and fair as possible, and replans the rest of the match after an injury.
Then came the KNVB rules: the right match format, match length, substitution rules and age dispensations for every age group, plus the new rules being trialled in 2026/'27.
